Vaccinations Guard Against Pet Diseases

Sometimes pet vaccinations seem like a mean and cruel thing to do to your pet. Nothing could be further from the truth. Although your pet more than likely doesn’t like needles any more than you do, it’s important that they receive vaccinations in Logan Square so that they can remain healthy. It is important to guard your pet against disease, and there is no better way than vaccinations.

Start Your Pet’s Life Right with Vaccinations

Vaccinations start when your pet is either a puppy or kitten. They will need the following vaccinations during their first stages of life; distemper, leptospirosis, hepatitis, parvovirus, corona, and parainfluenza. It is also important that you follow up with your vet for a combination of those vaccinations between 6 to 8 weeks, 9 to 11 weeks, 12 to 14 weeks and 16 to 17 weeks of age. After those vaccinations, your pet will need shots again for every 12 months. At 14 weeks, your pet should receive a Bordetella vaccination and then every six months after. Typically, rabies vaccinations are given at 16 weeks and then again, every 12 to 36 months.

Protect Your Pet with Vaccinations

Vaccinations also protect your pet from human diseases as well as other health complications that could arise. This is one of the main reasons it’s very important that you take your pet to the vet on an annual basis. It may be necessary for your pet to have other vaccinations such as the giardia at 14 and 17 weeks, along with an annual dose. At 14 and 17 weeks, your pet may also require Lyme vaccinations that will also need a yearly follow-up. No matter what type of vaccinations your pet needs you can trust your vet to ensure that they receive the treatment and vaccinations they need to remain healthy.
